APY (Annual Percentage Yield)
The yearly return on savings, after compounding is included.
APY is the yearly rate you earn on savings after compounding is taken into account, which is why banks quote it on savings accounts and CDs. Because interest earns interest, APY is always equal to or higher than the stated (nominal) rate. When you compare two savings products, make sure both are quoted as APY — comparing an APY to an APR is apples to oranges.
